The Ebonyi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its unwavering confidence in the leadership of its State Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, following a wave of public criticism and allegations circulating on social media.
In a strongly worded statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Nwefuru Obinna Humphrey, the party dismissed claims questioning the legitimacy, competence, and political standing of the chairman as “false, misleading, and lacking factual basis."
The statement was in response to comments and posts attributed to social commentator Nwoba Chika Nwoba, which the party described as an attempt to misinform the public and discredit the leadership of the ADC in Ebonyi State.
According to the party, Dr. Adibe-Nwafor remains the duly recognized and active chairman of the ADC in the state, contrary to claims suggesting otherwise.
The leadership emphasized that she not only participated fully in the party’s national convention in Abuja but also represented the state chapter with distinction.
The ADC further rejected assertions that another figure, Barr. Silas Onu, had emerged as state chairman, describing such claims as “entirely unfounded and a misrepresentation of internal party processes.” It challenged those making the allegations to provide verifiable evidence to support their statements.
Defending the chairman’s capacity and track record, the party highlighted her leadership qualities, including her commitment to democratic principles, organizational discipline, and inclusive governance within the party structure.

“Political discourse should be guided by truth, fairness, and a sense of responsibility to the public,” the statement read. “We encourage constructive criticism, but it must be rooted in accuracy and respect for due process.”
The development underscores growing political tensions within the state’s opposition space, as parties and stakeholders position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
