Residents of Ngbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State may soon witness a turnaround in security as Chief Barr. Ogalagu Tochukwu, the Ikemba 1 of Ohaukwu and a 2027 aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives, has announced plans for the immediate renovation of the Ngbo Police Area Command.
Ogalagu made this known on Wednesday, April 9, 2026, during a stopover visit to the police facility located at the Ngbo Court Area, opposite the School of Health.
The visit formed part of his community engagement efforts across the constituency.
The police command, which serves as a major security outpost for Ngbo and neighboring communities, has reportedly suffered years of neglect.
Its deteriorating condition has led to the withdrawal of officers, leaving residents increasingly exposed to security threats.
Addressing community members during the visit, Ogalagu emphasized the urgency of restoring the facility, describing security as a fundamental requirement for development.
“Our people cannot continue to live in fear because a building was allowed to decay. Security is the foundation of development. Unlike past promises that ended with words, my team will mobilize materials and workers to site within the coming weeks. This is not politics. This is responsibility,” he stated.
He further disclosed that the renovation project would include structural repairs, roofing, installation of windows and doors, as well as perimeter fencing to secure the premises.
According to him, an immediate assessment of the facility would be carried out, followed by prompt delivery of building materials to ensure work begins without delay.
The announcement has been widely welcomed by residents and community leaders, who described the move as timely and necessary.
They noted that restoring the police command would encourage officers to return, thereby strengthening law enforcement and boosting public confidence.
Observers believe that a functional police presence in Ngbo will help deter criminal activities, safeguard institutions such as the School of Health, and protect businesses and residents across Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
Community stakeholders also called on other leaders and well-meaning individuals to support initiatives aimed at improving security and development in the area.
If implemented as promised, the renovation is expected to mark a significant step toward restoring peace and stability in Ngbo and its environs.
