The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has commended the Minister of Works, David Umahi, over what he described as the ongoing transformation in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This was as Senator Umahi also lauded the APC leadership for the peaceful conduct of the party’s primaries and the introduction of a ministerial engagement process aimed at showcasing the achievements of the Federal Government.
The commendations were exchanged during a meeting between the Minister and the APC National Chairman on Tuesday, where discussions centred on plans for Senator Umahi to formally brief the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on the administration’s infrastructure achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media, Francis Nwaze, the meeting focused on fixing a date for the presentation before the party leadership on the progress recorded in road and bridge construction projects across the country.
Speaking during the meeting, Senator Umahi commended Prof. Yilwatda for introducing an accountability-driven engagement process where ministers appear before the NWC on live telecast to present the gains and progress made by their ministries.
The Minister also praised the APC leadership for what he described as the successful and peaceful conduct of the party’s primaries, noting that the National Working Committee created an inclusive environment that allowed aspirants to contest freely.
Responding, Prof. Yilwatda applauded the Minister for the visible transformation taking place in the nation’s infrastructure sector, assuring him that the NWC would soon invite him to formally present the achievements of the administration.
The APC National Chairman noted that Nigerians were already witnessing the impact of President Tinubu’s infrastructure drive through ongoing projects, television reports and public feedback from different parts of the country.
Senator Umahi further assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration remained committed to addressing the challenges confronting the nation while sustaining critical infrastructure development nationwide.
The statement added that immediately after the meeting, the Minister proceeded to review and address the developing situation at the Eko Bridge.
