The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that results of its 2026 presidential primary election will be collated from all 774 local government areas across the country ahead of final submission to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja.
The party disclosed this in the guidelines released for the conduct of its presidential primary, scheduled to hold through direct voting in the nation’s 8,809 wards.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party said the National Working Committee approved the guidelines, composition of the Presidential Primary Election and Appeal Committees, as well as the appointment of state coordinators and collation officers for the exercise.
According to the statement, the presidential primary will be conducted through the direct primary mode, allowing all registered APC members to vote for their preferred aspirant in their respective wards nationwide.
“All registered members of the party shall be eligible to vote for the presidential aspirant of their choice in each of the 8,809 wards in the country. The direct primary will be held in each of the 8,809 wards,” the statement read.
The party explained that results generated from the wards would first be collated at the local government level before onward transmission to the national collation centre in Abuja.
It stated that local government collation officers, appointed by state coordinators and collation officers designated by the National Working Committee, would oversee the aggregation of results from the wards within their jurisdictions.
“Results for each ward comprised in each of the 774 local governments will be collated by the Local Government Collation Officer to be appointed by the State Coordinator and Collation Officer appointed by the National Working Committee,” the statement added.
The APC further disclosed that each state and the Federal Capital Territory would have designated coordinators and collation officers responsible for supervising the exercise and ensuring smooth conduct of the process.
The party said collated results from the 774 local government areas are expected to be presented to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja on May 24, 2026.
According to the party, the conduct of the exercise would also be guided by the “Procedure for the Conduct of Direct and Consensus Mode of Primaries” earlier forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission under a correspondence dated May 15, 2026.
The development comes amid ongoing APC primaries for other elective positions across several states of the federation.
The party had earlier endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate at the national level and in some zonal consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
