The Women’s Ministries Department of Assemblies of God Church, Agbaja Unuphu, has honoured Comrade Sir Sunday Kelvin Nwambam with an Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding service to humanity and unwavering commitment to the growth of the church through impactful media reportage.
The award was presented during the church’s 2026 Women’s Day Celebration held on Sunday at Agbaja Unuphu in Ebonyi State.
In her welcome address, the National President of the Women’s Ministries Department, Deaconess Happiness Nworie, described the occasion as a moment of thanksgiving, reflection and spiritual renewal for women within the church and the larger society.
Speaking on the theme of the celebration, “Breaking Barriers to Responsibilities,” Nworie noted that the theme was timely and relevant, stressing that women across generations had continued to play pivotal roles in families, churches and communities despite prevailing social and economic challenges.
She urged women to rise above fear, doubt, limitations and societal expectations in order to embrace their God-given responsibilities with courage, faith and excellence.
According to her, “This season is a call for us to rise, step forward in faith and embrace our responsibilities with boldness, courage and excellence.
“May we break the barriers of fear and rise to serve. May we break the barriers of limitations and rise to build our homes, our church and our generation.”
The women’s leader further appreciated the church leadership, guest ministers and worshippers for their continuous support towards the advancement of the women’s ministry and the propagation of the gospel.
Responding after receiving the award, Nwambam, who serves as the Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, described the recognition as a great honour and a source of inspiration.
He commended mothers and women for their indispensable contributions to family life, nation-building and the growth of the church, urging them to remain steadfast in faith and committed to raising children in the fear of God.
According to him, women remain the backbone of every stable family and society.
“Motherhood represents the foundation of human existence. Without women in the family structure, something vital is missing. Fathers cannot do it alone because mothers play critical roles in nurturing, mentoring and raising children,” he stated.
Nwambam further noted that the honour bestowed on him by the church would strengthen his resolve to continue serving humanity and defending the Christian faith.
“This award is deeply significant to me, and I will not disappoint the church. It will further encourage me to continue protecting and defending the faith in Christ,” he added.
Several associates and friends of the award recipient who attended the event described him as humble, compassionate and committed to humanitarian service.
One of them, Engineer Chukwudi Nwaji and Nwachi Egwu, stated that Nwambam deserved the recognition considering his immense contributions to society and his dedication to supporting those around him.
“He truly merited the award and is even overqualified for it. He has remained a dependable brother and friend who always ensures that things are done properly,” he said.
They also described the honour as well deserved, noting that such recognition reflects Nwambam’s loyalty, humility and service to humanity.
He urged the award recipient to remain steadfast in the good works that earned him the honour.
Also speaking, Engineer Ogbonna Chika Stephen commended the church for recognising and celebrating individuals making meaningful impacts within the body of Christ and society at large.
He encouraged Nwambam not to relent in his humanitarian service, stressing that “good work always yields rewards, regardless of how long it takes.”
The event featured worship sessions, goodwill messages and special prayers for women, the church and Ebonyi State.
