A former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ebonyi State, Professor Bernard Ifeanyichukwu Odoh, has formally resigned his membership of the party, including his position as a member of its Board of Trustees (BoT), with immediate effect.
Odoh, a former Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated 4the May and addressed to the Chairman of APGA in Omege Umuezeokoha Ward, Ezza North Local Government Area.
In the letter, which was also copied to the APGA State Chairman in Ebonyi and the National Chairman of the party, Odoh said his resignation followed careful reflection, citing limited engagement with the party’s recent activities at a level commensurate with his role as a Board of Trustee, BoT member.
“This decision is the outcome of considered reflection. In recent times, I have not been sufficiently abreast of developments within the party at the level required of a member of its Board of Trustees,” he stated.
He added that his decision was guided by the need to ensure “institutional coherence and effective stewardship,” noting that stepping aside would allow for more aligned and engaged leadership within the party structure.
The former governorship aspirant expressed appreciation to the party leadership at both state and national levels for the confidence reposed in him, as well as to members of the party in his ward and beyond.
“I remain deeply appreciative of the confidence reposed in me by the party leadership at the state and national levels, as well as the goodwill of the entire APGA family, particularly the good people of Omege Umuezeokoha Ward,” Odoh said.
He further assured that his commitment to the unity, stability, and development of Ebonyi State and Nigeria remains unwavering, pledging to continue supporting genuine efforts aimed at advancing the common good.
“My commitment to the unity, stability, and development of our state and nation remains unwavering, and I shall continue to support all sincere efforts directed toward the advancement of the common good,” he added.
The resignation letter was acknowledged and signed by the APGA Chairman of Omege Umuezeokoha Ward, Mr. Monday Nwafor.
Odoh was the APGA governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections in Ebonyi State.
He had earlier contested the party’s senatorial ticket for Ebonyi Central in 2015 and also sought the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 but was unsuccessful at the primaries.
