The Chairman of Zelus Group of Companies and Chief Executive Officer of Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation, Chief Barrister Tochukwu Ogalagu, popularly known as “T-Man,” has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ogalagu emerged unopposed during the party’s primary election held on Thursday at Grace Garden and Event Centre in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, which also served as the collation centre for the exercise.
The primary attracted party faithful, supporters, and political stakeholders from different parts of the constituency and beyond, as participants turned out in large numbers for the exercise.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, party observers, and members of the media monitored the exercise, which was conducted in line with the party’s electoral guidelines.
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer, Joseph Elom, announced that Ogalagu emerged as the sole candidate following the completion of the nomination process.
Elom described the exercise as peaceful and orderly, commending delegates and party members for their conduct throughout the primary election.
According to him, the process reflected the commitment of the party to internal democracy and transparent political participation.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Ogalagu expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing his nomination as a reflection of widespread grassroots support within the constituency.
He said the turnout recorded during the exercise demonstrated the growing acceptance and strength of APGA in Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency and the South-East region generally.
“This is a party that has remained consistent over the years. APGA has produced governors, lawmakers, and local government leaders across different states,” he said.
Ogalagu described his emergence as “a mandate rooted in collective support,” expressing optimism that the party would record significant success during the 2027 general elections.
He also commended the conduct of the primary election, particularly the presence of security personnel, electoral observers, and the orderly participation of delegates and party supporters.
On the credibility of future elections, the APGA flagbearer expressed confidence in the ability of INEC and other democratic institutions to ensure fairness and transparency in the electoral process.
“Party is a platform; it is the people that make the difference. I remain committed to grassroots mobilisation and service,” he added.
Ogalagu further pledged to pursue inclusive representation and development-oriented leadership if elected to represent Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
In a related development, the party also returned Onyeoma Kelechi Agbo as the sole candidate for the Ohaukwu South State Constituency seat under APGA ahead of the 2027 elections.
The exercise ended peacefully amid renewed political mobilisation and expressions of optimism by party members ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
