The Emmy Favour Foundation has paid the school and final examination fees of Primary Six pupils in six government primary schools in Izhia clan of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State as part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
The education support programme, held on Wednesday in Izhia, attracted government officials, community leaders, teachers, parents, pupils and other stakeholders from across the state.
The initiative, championed by the founder of the foundation, Chief Emeka Nwoke, popularly known as “De Triple Chief,” covered pupils in Ndeguogodo Primary School, Unity Primary School Amovu, Vision Primary School Umuebe, Central School Ezzangbo, Future Hope Nursery/Primary School and Community Primary School Uffioboto.
The foundation also donated N50,000 each to tutorial staff in the benefiting schools to support their welfare and encourage commitment to teaching.
Speaking during the event, the Secretary-General of Emmy Favour Foundation, Comrade Monday Ali, described the intervention as part of the organisation’s commitment to reducing the burden of poverty on vulnerable families and promoting access to education in rural communities.
Ali said the foundation had continued to touch lives through humanitarian activities, including youth empowerment, payment of school fees, support for widows and orphans, road grading, restoration of electricity supply and rehabilitation of boreholes in different communities.
According to him, Chief Nwoke had in 2024 built a two-room self-contained apartment for an indigent resident and had also empowered several youths to become self-reliant through various business and skill acquisition programmes.
He noted that the foundation recently concluded the fourth batch of cash disbursement to residents aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship.
“Today’s intervention is another milestone in our efforts to wipe away tears from the faces of the less privileged, physically challenged and financially incapacitated persons in society,” he said.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Prince Ikechukwu Odono, commended the foundation for investing in the future of children through education support.
Odono described children as leaders of tomorrow and urged them to remain focused on their studies and moral upbringing.
He said the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru had continued to prioritise the welfare and education of children across Ebonyi State to ensure that no child was left out of school.
The council chairman particularly praised Chief Nwoke for paying the fees of Primary Six pupils in the benefiting schools, describing the gesture as a major contribution toward reducing the financial burden on parents.
“This is a huge investment in the future of our children and the development of society. I commend the founder of Emmy Favour Foundation for this noble initiative,” he stated.
Chairman of the occasion and Ebonyi State Commissioner for Capital City Development, Chief Sunday Inyima, also applauded the philanthropic efforts of the foundation, describing education as the bedrock of societal growth and sustainable development.
Inyima urged wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to complement government efforts by supporting education and humanitarian causes in their communities.
He said community-driven interventions remained critical in addressing the socio-economic challenges facing rural dwellers, especially amid prevailing economic realities.
The commissioner noted that the foundation’s intervention would not only encourage school enrolment but also inspire hope among children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Some parents and community leaders who spoke during the event expressed appreciation to the foundation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
The event featured goodwill messages from stakeholders, presentation of educational support packages to beneficiaries and cultural displays by school children to commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
