The Ebonyi State Commander of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), Commander Larry Igwe, has commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for what he described as inclusive leadership and peaceful governance capable of promoting democratic stability beyond Ebonyi State.
Igwe gave the commendation on Friday while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki on the political atmosphere surrounding ongoing party primary elections in the state.
He noted that the conduct of political activities across various parts of Ebonyi State had remained largely peaceful and orderly, attributing the development to effective leadership and cooperation among political stakeholders.
According to him, the prevailing atmosphere of peace during the party primaries reflected growing political maturity and a commitment to democratic processes in the state.
“Governor Nwifuru is not only providing leadership for Ebonyi State, but also demonstrating governance principles that can strengthen democratic development and peaceful coexistence across the country,” Igwe said.
The NFSS Commander further applauded the cordial relationship between the state government and security institutions, stressing that such cooperation had contributed to public confidence and social stability.
He urged political actors and stakeholders to continue embracing peaceful engagement and issue-based politics ahead of future electoral activities.
Igwe also advised politicians dissatisfied with outcomes of party primaries to seek lawful and democratic means of redress rather than actions capable of heating up the polity.
Speaking on the role of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, he reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to community surveillance, intelligence support and collaboration with relevant authorities in promoting peace and public safety.
He called on citizens to remain law-abiding and support efforts aimed at sustaining peace and security across communities in the state.
The NFSS Commander further encouraged elected and aspiring leaders to prioritise good governance, people-oriented policies and infrastructural development for the benefit of the people.
According to him, leadership should remain focused on improving citizens’ welfare and strengthening democratic institutions.
Igwe also urged eligible voters to participate responsibly in the democratic process and make informed decisions based on competence, credibility and commitment to public service.
Igwe , however, called on both the Ebonyi State and Federal governments to strengthen support for the Nigeria Forest Security Service, particularly in the areas of logistics, operational accommodation and personnel welfare.
He disclosed that despite the organisation’s growing contributions to community security and intelligence operations, many personnel continued to operate under difficult conditions without adequate government funding.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Forest Security Service to professionalism, discipline and support for lawful efforts geared towards protecting lives and property across Ebonyi State and beyond.
