The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement for the South-East, Barrister Chioma Nweze, has said that the ongoing infrastructure and social intervention projects being executed by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu are restoring hope and confidence among residents of the South-East region.
Nweze stated this at the weekend during the presidential primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress held in Okposi community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
She maintained that the South-East was currently witnessing unprecedented federal presence under the Tinubu administration, stressing that several ongoing developmental projects across the region had strengthened the people’s sense of belonging in the Nigerian federation.
According to her, the administration’s commitment to road construction, bridge projects, educational support initiatives and installation of solar-powered street lights had significantly altered the development narrative in the region.
“South-East people are happy to come out en masse to vote for Mr. President. This is the first time the South-East is having it this good,” she said.
The presidential aide noted that previous administrations neglected critical infrastructure in the region, but added that the current government had demonstrated strong political will towards addressing longstanding developmental challenges.
She cited the ongoing bridge project linking Afikpo in Ebonyi State with communities in Cross River State as one of the landmark projects being undertaken by the Federal Government.
“Even the bridge Afikpo people have been yearning for for over 100 years to connect them with Cross River is already being constructed,” Nweze stated.
She further commended the Federal Government’s installation of solar-powered street lights along major highways in the South-East, describing the initiative as a strategic step towards enhancing security and improving socio-economic activities within the region.
Highlighting projects attracted to her community, Nweze disclosed that a new primary healthcare centre, four new schools and road infrastructure projects were currently underway.
“We have a brand-new primary healthcare centre, four new schools and several other projects facilitated through Mr. President. Our road is being dualised with concrete, and there are plans for a flyover in the Cots area,” she added.
The presidential aide also applauded the administration’s interventions in the education sector, noting that improved support for students and industrial harmony in tertiary institutions had stabilised academic activities across the country.
“For the first time in many years, there have been no strikes disrupting academic activities. Our children are in school, and students are receiving support funds to help with their education,” she said.
Nweze urged residents of the South-East to sustain their support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the administration had shown genuine commitment to the infrastructural and socio-economic development of the region and the nation at large.
