The All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from a purported list of successful candidates from its recently concluded primary elections, declaring the document circulating on social media as fake, unauthorized, and without the approval of the party.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, urged party members, aspirants, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard the viral list, insisting that the party had not released any official compilation of successful candidates.
"The APC hereby informs the general public that it has not released the official list of successful candidates from its recently conducted primaries," Morka said.
The clarification comes amid widespread circulation of a document claiming to contain the names of the party's candidates for various elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections, sparking reactions across political circles and social media platforms.
According to the party, the process of collating and verifying the outcomes of the primaries is still ongoing, in line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the submission of candidates by political parties.
The APC explained that only candidates duly confirmed by the party would be formally notified through its official communication channels and subsequently presented with certificates of return in accordance with established procedures.
The party stressed that until such notifications are issued, any list in circulation should be regarded as false and misleading.
The development follows intense public interest in the outcome of the APC primaries as political parties conclude the nomination of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The APC appealed to its members and supporters to rely solely on official party communications and disregard unverified publications capable of causing confusion and unnecessary anxiety among aspirants and supporters.
The statement is expected to calm growing speculation surrounding the emergence of the party's candidates, with the APC maintaining that only officially released information should be treated as authentic.
