The member representing Abakaliki North State Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Nwoke, has said that Governor Francis Nwifuru deserves a second term in office owing to what he described as the governor's pragmatic and people-oriented leadership style.
Nwoke, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports Development, made the remark while reacting to the endorsement of Governor Nwifuru and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections by Oha-Izzi Nnodo, a socio-cultural body of the Izzi clan.
The lawmaker commended community leaders, stakeholders and other prominent members of the Izzi Nnodo clan for the endorsement, describing the move as a demonstration of unity, solidarity and confidence in the leadership of the governor and other APC candidates.
According to him, political support and solidarity are essential for elected officials and aspiring candidates, as they boost confidence and strengthen their resolve to deliver democratic dividends to the people.
He noted that the endorsement of Governor Nwifuru by his kinsmen was a recognition of the governor's achievements and commitment to the development of Ebonyi State.
Nwoke further stated that the endorsement would help promote peace and reduce political tensions during the electioneering period, while also providing a clear direction for the people ahead of the 2027 polls.
The lawmaker highlighted some of his achievements in Abakaliki North State Constituency over the past three years, including educational support for undergraduates, skills acquisition programmes for youths, women empowerment initiatives and the organization of football competitions aimed at promoting grassroots sports development.
He expressed optimism that the overwhelming support demonstrated by the Izzi people would translate into peaceful and credible elections.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion and Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Mathias Adum, alongside elder statesman and former senator, Senator Chris Nwankwo, declared the total support of the Izzi clan for Governor Nwifuru and other APC candidates seeking elective positions in the 2027 elections.
The endorsement also extended to Hon. Victor Nwoke, popularly known as "Defender," in support of his bid for a second term in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the certificate of endorsement to the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Obila, who represented Governor Nwifuru at the solidarity rally held at the Abakaliki Township Stadium.
The ceremony attracted a large crowd of supporters and stakeholders and was led by leaders of the Izzi Nnodo clan, headed by former Vice-Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, Prof. Francis Idike.
