The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Chief Barrister Tochukwu Ogalagu, popularly known as T-Man, has reaffirmed his commitment to effective legislative representation, insisting that democracy can only thrive when the will of the people is respected at the polling units.
Ogalagu made the assertion in his Democracy Day message to Nigerians, particularly the people of Ebonyi State and constituents of Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, as the nation marked the 2026 Democracy Day anniversary.
He described June 12 as a historic symbol of the struggle for justice, electoral integrity and democratic governance, noting that the day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigerians in defence of democracy following the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.
The APGA standard-bearer congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and other leaders across the country for their contributions to democratic governance and national development.
While commending the administration of President Tinubu, Ogalagu maintained that APGA remains a credible alternative platform for people-oriented leadership and good governance.
"As we celebrate democracy, we must renew our collective commitment to justice, fairness, equity, accountability and respect for the sovereign will of the people. Democracy cannot thrive where electoral manipulation, voter intimidation and result falsification are tolerated at polling units," he stated.
He called on citizens and his supporters to remain vigilant and law-abiding while ensuring that every legitimate vote counts during elections.
Ogalagu further disclosed that through private initiatives and community-driven interventions, he had facilitated over 500 jobs and provided humanitarian assistance in critical sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure and financial support for vulnerable persons.
The APGA candidate assured constituents that if elected to represent
Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, he would champion policies aimed at job creation, youth empowerment, agricultural modernisation, industrial expansion and digital infrastructure development.
According to him, his legislative agenda would also focus on promoting equity, justice and inclusive economic growth while strengthening support for small and medium-scale enterprises and expanding access to credit facilities for traders and farmers.
He stressed the need for political actors to embrace issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning against violence, intolerance and actions capable of undermining the integrity of the electoral process.
Ogalagu urged Nigerians to prioritise competence, integrity and performance in choosing leaders, irrespective of political affiliation, ethnicity or personal interests.
He expressed optimism that with collective commitment to democratic ideals, Nigeria would continue to advance on the path of peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
