Youths especially Corps Members have been assured that the National Assembly, especially the House of Representatives, will always make laws that would promote economic emancipation of the youths.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development, Hon. Martin Etim Esin, gave the assurance at the Rivers State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of the state.
Esin while leading members of the committee on an oversight visit to the camp, assured the corps members that with the anticipated assent of President Bola Tinubu to the NYSC Trust Fund bill, better days await them.
"This will enhance corps and staff members welfare and ensure infrastructure upgrade of camp facilities.
"I charge you to be focused and acquire useful skills through the SAED programme.
"You should also be at your best integrity wise, as Independent National Electoral Committe (INEC) ad-hoc staff during in the conduct of the 2027 general elections."
The State Coordinator, NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe while.bruefing the committe, praised the corps members for their unique roles in ensuring the smooth administration of the camp.
"This is through their hardwork, discipline and commitment.
"I thank the chairman and commitre members for the visit, as it is 'historic.
"I also commend Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his unwavering commitment and support to the NYSC in the state,"
He appealed to the committe chairman to use his office in attracting development to the scheme which include construction of a new Secretariat complex.
"We seek proper channelisation of water to check flooding of the camp during downpour and the construction of a twin hostel with a capacity of 1000 males and females.
"We also seek the purchase of 1000 double--bunk beds," .
