The Eternal Brothers Club, a High--Flying and Resourceful Social Club in Abakaliki, has conducted its maiden Health/ Awareness road walk, to enhance the health well-being of members and propagate its activities to the world.
The walk which took off from the Pa Ngele Oruta stadium Abakaliki towards the state Old Government House; Waterworks Road, Aniekwena;; its adjoining streets; Meat Market, Abacha Roundabout, Water Works and back to the stadium ; Showcased the human/ material dispositions and inclinations of the club.
The parade laced with flawless, exquisite pomp and pegeantry, left onlookers in awe in further confirmation of the club as the best and most glamorous around.
The President of the Club, Hon. Charlse Akpu-Enika said in an interview that the walk was a dream come true and an affirmation of its genuine concern on the members' well-being.
Akpu--Enika who is the Immediate Past Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi, said the theme of the event :Walk for Good Living: captures the importance of regular physical exercises for club members' well-being.
"This therefore, is to encourage the club members and citizens of the state, to embrace physical activities as a means of improving overall healthy living.
"We involved our spouses in the exercise to show that they are part of us and whatever gains we have recorded have their serious involvement and commitment."
Hon Richard Idike, the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, said the walk aligns with Gov. Francis Nwifuru's administration's mantra of promoting ft and healthy living among citizens of the state.
Idike hailed the club's fitness initiative, noting that involving the members' spouses lead credence to a strong bond socially and in their various homes.
"The importance of physical exercises cannot be over emphasised as the club will be encouraged to sustain this ideal which has broken barriers and brought strong bonding,".
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi, Victor Asanya congratulated the club for the successful conduct of the walk and hailed its members' high level of commitment.
"The FRSC identifies with every good objective and seeing the Eternal Brothers club embark on this initiative, elicited our commitment and participation.
"The FRSC believes in fitness and overall health well-being and our commitment towards such ideals remain unwavering,"
Chief Ben Nwovu, Chairman of the Ebonyi State Road Maintenance Agency and a Stakeholder of the club, commended the president and executive of the club for their proactivenss.
"This is heartwarming and gratifying and we would do all we can to always support such noble initiatives,"
Directors of the Club such as Deacon Obinna Nwachukwu and Chief Chris Uchaji expressed happiness over the walk noting that the club was living up to its welfarist responsibilities towards its members and the public.
"This intiative is laudable as it enhances the members' physical and emotional wellbing while strenghtning the desired unity among them,".
