Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, the Labour Party’s House of Representatives candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, has urged voters in Ebonyi State to reject all incumbent members of the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections, arguing that the state must demand higher-quality representation to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
In a series of posts on his official social media platforms, Dr. Ezeh called on the electorate to critically assess the performance of their federal lawmakers before deciding whether they deserve another term.
He maintained that improving the calibre of those sent to the National Assembly is essential for deepening democratic governance and ensuring accountability.
He questioned the implications of re-electing the current lawmakers, particularly in the event of any future constitutional amendment that might seek to extend presidential tenure.
Dr Ezeh also criticised their handling of the 2026 Electoral Act, saying their conduct showed they had not earned another mandate.
“Sending them all back home is a task before all sensible Ndi Ebonyi,” he stated.
Ezeh cautioned voters against allowing political interests to shape their decisions, urging them instead to make informed choices at the polls.
In another post titled “Party Supremacy Is Gone!”, he warned Nigerians against empowering leaders who, in his view, might support efforts that undermine democratic principles.
“We cannot keep empowering leaders who would hand any President a lifetime presidency without blinking or fail in holding the executive arm accountable. Our lives matter, our future matters, and we refuse to be sacrificed for anyone’s ambition,” he wrote.
Dr. Ezeh further disclosed that the Labour Party in Ebonyi North has adopted a more inclusive political approach that embraces the zone's diversity and varying interests. He said this new political landscape is designed to unify stakeholders and produce credible leadership alternatives ahead of 2027.
He emphasized that 2027 is a year of character, capacity, and competence, stressing that only leaders who embody these values should be entrusted with public office.
"This is in line with my suggestion for a "Rainbow Coalition", he insists.
Dr. Ezeh urged party supporters and the general public to await the formal unveiling of the Labour Party’s political plans, expressing confidence that the party would present a credible alternative in the coming elections.
