The Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Nigerian Senate, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Onyekachi Peter Nwebonyi and leaders of Ebonyi North Zone have described the statement of Maurice Mbam, who was aspiring for the APC ticket for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, calling constituents not to re-elect him as baseless and laughable.
This was contained in the Statement issued through Media Aide to Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi on Print & Media,Nwizi Nwokoro in Abakaliki the state capital.
The media Aide lauded Mbam's acceptance of unprecedented performance of Senator Nwebonyi in the Senate and at the same time condemned in its entirety his alleged inaccessibility of Senator Nwenonyi to the people of Ebonyi North Zone.
Nwokoro described the criticism as a falsehood coming from person who has lost political nutrients,trying to score cheap and unmerited political popularity.
Nwokoro while calling on the public to disregard the frivolous,falsehood and unfounded illusory of Mbam targeted to cast aspersions on the revered image of distinguished Senator Nwebonyi in other to discredit his expeditious representation in Ebonyi North Zone, said he wondered how Mbam could make such unguarded and provocative utterances on the most accessible,best performing, punctual and one of the popular Senators in Nigeria.
He called on Mbam to retract his statement and tender unreserved apologies to his principal knowing that his position, that Nwebonyi should not do second term is ancord on personal hatred and not in any way the popular opinion of the people of Ebonyi North Zone that endorsed he (Nwebonyi) for second term in office.
Nwokoro, the public affair analyst called the attention of Mbam and the people he meant to deceive to note that Senate seat has no limited tenure stressing that Senator Nwebonyi's request for two tenure in the Senate is in order, going by his track record of achievements within a space of three years in the Senate and should not in any manner be seen as an irrational cravings as Nwebonyi's re-election come 2027 is sacrosanct and unbreakable.
Nwokoro cited Senator Ali Ndume who has been in the Senate for two decades and some other distinguished senators as a case of example which is better than precept.
Nwokoro advised that people should desist from making hate speech in the name of politicking to distract the Senator from focusing on how to deliver democratic dividends to the the people he is elected to represent, to seeing that the Charter of Needs mantra of the Governor of Ebonyi State,His Excellency, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is realized, warning that any one who dares to cast a slur on the image of the Senator again will be made to serve as a deterrent to others who may indulge into such crude inclination in line with the law of the country.
Nwokoro, however applauded the commitment and resilience of the leaders of Ebonyi North Zone which culminated the success story people narrate today and ask for their continued support to Senator Nwenonyi's second term bid to continue his good work.
Nwokoro said that though Senator Nwebonyi is a silent achiever who does not like blowing his trumpet,but the time has come for the unbeatable records of Senator Nwebonyi in the history of Ebonyi North Zone to be on the public domain for prove of claim and clarity.
It would be recalled that Nwebonyi is Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on public Accounts,Vice-chairman standing Committee on Education, Science & Culture, ECOWAS Parliament, Member Senate Committee on Works,Member, Senate Committee on Petroleum, Member, Senate Committee on Education and,Member of over fifteen (15) other Senate Committees.
