Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency (CRISSAA) and the Kogi State Government have introduced new tariffs for political billboards and campaign advertisements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
On its part, Cross River State government pegged presidential campaign adverts at N150 million and governorship adverts at N100 million.
The Director-General of CRISSAA, Mr Ubong Sam, disclosed this in a statement made available Thursday after an interactive session with members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Calabar.
According to the DG, senatorial campaign advertisements will attract N50 million, while candidates for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly will pay N25 million and N5 million, respectively.
"Our rates are moderate and reflect current economic realities. We arrived at them in synergy with critical stakeholders. It is not targeted at anyone and is meant to allow multiparty campaigns towards the 2027 elections,” Sam said.
In the same vein, under the Kogi State Government-approved fee structure, presidential candidates will pay N150 million for campaign signage and related promotional materials across the state, while senatorial candidates will pay N50 million.
House of Representatives candidates are to pay N30 million, while candidates contesting seats in the state House of Assembly will pay N5 million.
For the local council elections, chairmanship candidates will pay N2 million, while councillorship candidates are required to pay N300,000.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed the new rates in a statement made available Thursday following a meeting between government stakeholders and operators in the signage and advertising sector in the state.
Nigerian Pilot reports that the development comes ahead of the commencement of campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections, scheduled to begin on August 19.
