The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not win any state in the 2027 presidential election without alleged manipulation of the electoral process.
Okonkwo, who is campaigning for the ADC presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, made the assertion during a recent online interview while assessing the political outlook ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Nollywood actor-turned-politician expressed confidence that the opposition would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that the political environment favoured opposition parties following what he described as the failure of the Tinubu administration to meet the expectations of Nigerians.
According to him, the opposition has a clearer path to victory in 2027 than it had during the 2023 presidential election, when the major opposition parties were less coordinated.
“When we campaigned for the 2023 general elections, we had no governor. We had nothing, and Tinubu did not win more states than us,” Okonkwo said.
He added: “Now that he is the worst President Nigeria has ever had, do you think he will win any state without rigging? Tinubu will not win any state. So the path to victory is very clear. And by the grace of God, we will win.”
Okonkwo said the opposition's growing political realignment, particularly under the ADC platform, had created a stronger basis for challenging the APC at the presidential level.
He urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the current administration to support the opposition in the 2027 election, insisting that the election would provide an opportunity for citizens to effect a change in government through the ballot.
The ADC campaign spokesman also expressed confidence in Atiku's chances of emerging victorious, describing the former vice president as a strong contender capable of uniting opposition forces and attracting voters across the country.
His comments came amid ongoing consultations and political realignments among opposition leaders and parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders increasingly advocating a common platform to challenge the APC.
The ADC has recently attracted prominent opposition figures and political groups seeking to consolidate their forces ahead of the presidential contest.
Okonkwo's claim, however, is a political assessment and represents his position as an opposition campaign spokesman, rather than an established fact about the outcome of the 2027 election.
