The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Human Capital Development, Mrs Ann Aligwe, and the lawmaker representing Ebonyi North-East Constituency, Hon. Chinyere Nwogbaga, have called on women in the state to prioritise healthy living, personal hygiene and proper home management.
The two political leaders also urged women across the state to support candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming local government election, stressing the importance of women’s participation in grassroots politics and development.
They made the call while speaking with journalists shortly after the annual August meeting of the Nkaleke Ozibo Ugbala Women held at Nnodo Secondary School, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
Aligwe urged the women to pay greater attention to their personal health and environmental cleanliness, noting that healthy families and communities begin with individuals who adopt proper hygiene practices.
She encouraged the women to maintain clean and healthy homes, take their health seriously and present themselves in a neat and dignified manner.
The Commissioner further emphasised the need for women to serve as positive role models in their families and communities, particularly in promoting healthy lifestyles and responsible family management.
Similarly, Nwogbaga advised the women to remain united and actively participate in the political process, particularly at the grassroots level.
She urged them to use their voting strength to support candidates they believe would advance the interests of their communities, while specifically canvassing massive support for APC candidates in the forthcoming local government election.
According to her, women constitute a critical voting bloc and must not remain on the sidelines when decisions affecting their communities are being made.
The lawmaker also stressed the need for women to continue contributing to peace, development and social stability across the state.
The annual August meeting of the Nkaleke Ozibo Ugbala Women brought together women from the community for discussions on family welfare, health, unity and community development.
The event also provided an avenue for the women to strengthen their bonds and deliberate on issues affecting their families and communities.
