The people of Igbeagu Community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have declared their support for the candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ahead of the 2027 general election, citing their alleged records of public service, philanthropy, community development and relationship with the people.
The community, during a consultative gathering, specifically threw its weight behind Chief Ojimba Chikaodili Ojimba, the APGA candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District; Hon. Ugochukwu Ojike, candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency; Hon. Chidi Nwite Bonaventure, candidate for Abakaliki North State Constituency; and Hon. Chidiebere Ofoke Emmanuel, candidate for Abakaliki South State Constituency.
Community members said their decision was based on what they described as the candidates' demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people and their contributions to community development.
Speaking at the gathering, the residents said Chief Ojimba, in particular, had distinguished himself through personal interventions in the welfare of individuals and communities, even before seeking elective office.
They said his philanthropic activities and support for various initiatives with personal resources had convinced them that he possessed the capacity and commitment to provide effective representation for the people of Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
According to the community members, Ojimba's aspiration was driven by a desire to improve the living standards of the people, create opportunities for the teeming youths and attract development to communities across the senatorial zone.
They expressed optimism that, if elected to the Senate in 2027, Ojimba would pursue what they described as effective representation, accountability and equitable distribution of social amenities across the district.
"We have considered the track records, accessibility, commitment to public service and contributions of these candidates to the development and welfare of our people," the community members said.
"Our support is based on our conviction that they have demonstrated the capacity to serve the people and advance the development of our communities.
"In particular, Chief Ojimba has, even as a private individual, contributed to the welfare of the people and supported different initiatives with his personal resources. We believe that if given the opportunity to serve in the Senate, he will do more for the people of Ebonyi North."
The community therefore urged eligible voters across the area to support the APGA candidates, maintaining that their backing was informed by their assessment of the candidates' individual records and commitment to the people.
The declaration comes amid increasing political activities and realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with political parties and aspirants intensifying grassroots consultations and mobilisation across Ebonyi State.
In the Ebonyi North Senatorial District, the race is expected to attract significant attention as political actors seek to consolidate their support bases ahead of the polls.
