The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu, Professor Nkiru Folaranmi, has been appointed and inaugurated as a member of the Governing Council of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), a development the university has described as a major national recognition of its growing academic influence.
The institution said the appointment was a testament to Professor Folaranmi's outstanding contributions to medical education, academic leadership and institutional development, describing it as a well-deserved honour.
In a congratulatory statement issued on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students of the university, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Vitalis O. Offor, said the appointment was both highly meritorious and a fitting recognition of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor's wealth of experience, dedication and professionalism.
According to Offor, Professor Folaranmi's elevation to the Governing Council of the nation's foremost medical regulatory body reflects her unwavering commitment, loyalty and distinguished service to medical education in Nigeria, as well as her invaluable contributions to the growth and development of DUFUHS.
"This appointment is a well-deserved recognition of Professor Nkiru Folaranmi's outstanding contributions to medical education, academic leadership and institutional development. It is highly meritorious and reflects her wealth of experience, dedication and professionalism," the statement read.
The university further noted that the appointment underscores the increasing national recognition of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences and the growing influence of its academic staff within Nigeria's higher education and professional regulatory system.
It expressed confidence that Professor Folaranmi would deploy her extensive expertise and experience in advancing the mandate of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria while contributing significantly to the continued development of medical and dental education in the country.
