The Ebonyi State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement Women Wing, Mrs Gloria Uzoigwe, has declared that no political party has the capacity to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State in Saturday's local government elections or the 2027 general elections.
Uzoigwe spoke at Ezzamgbo, headquarters of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, during an APC campaign rally ahead of the August 22 local government polls.
She said the confidence of the party's supporters was rooted in what she described as the development records of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to her, the Nwifuru administration has raised the bar of governance in Ebonyi through sustained investments in human capital development, peace building, youth empowerment, education, agriculture, healthcare and critical infrastructure.
"There is no other political party that can defeat the APC in Ebonyi State, both in the August 22 local government elections and in the 2027 general elections," Uzoigwe said.
"The reason is simple: the people can see the difference. Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has set standards in governance and human capital development. His administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the welfare and future of Ebonyi people."
She cited the scholarship programme of the state government, which she said had provided opportunities for more than 1,000 Ebonyi indigenes to pursue further education within and outside the country.
Uzoigwe also listed the establishment and development of the University of ICT, Science and Technology, Oferekpe, Agbaja, as well as the Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering University project in Ezza, among initiatives she said would strengthen the state's educational and technological capacity.
The women leader further pointed to the reduction of fees payable by students in state-owned tertiary institutions and increased subventions to higher institutions as evidence of the governor's commitment to expanding access to quality education.
She said other sectors receiving attention under the administration included agriculture, healthcare, road and bridge construction, rural and urban renewal, industrial development, housing and youth empowerment.
"Governor Nwifuru has made it clear that development must not be concentrated in the urban centres. That is why we are seeing interventions in rural communities, infrastructure development, empowerment programmes and investments designed to improve the lives of ordinary people," she said.
Uzoigwe added that the prevailing peace and stability in Ebonyi State had created a favourable environment for development, investment and political participation.
She said the APC would enter the August 22 local government elections with a strong grassroots structure, expressing confidence that the party would secure a decisive victory across the state.
The City Boy Movement Women Wing Coordinator also declared support for President Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, saying the President's infrastructure and economic reform agenda would strengthen the APC's electoral prospects nationwide.
She pointed to ongoing federal investments in strategic road infrastructure, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Calabar-Ebonyi-Benue-Nasarawa-Abuja corridor, as well as interventions in other critical sectors, as evidence of what she described as the administration's determination to transform the country.
According to Uzoigwe, the Tinubu administration's focus on infrastructure, economic reforms, agriculture, investment promotion, youth opportunities and national development would become more evident as the policies and projects mature.
"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is laying a foundation for a stronger and more productive Nigeria. His administration is taking difficult but necessary steps to rebuild the economy, expand infrastructure, attract investment and create greater opportunities for Nigerians.
"When you combine the development efforts of President Tinubu at the national level with the transformation taking place in Ebonyi under Governor Nwifuru, the APC has a compelling record to present to the people," she said.
Uzoigwe urged women and other grassroots supporters to intensify mobilisation for the APC, stressing that the party's strength remained anchored on its performance and connection with the electorate.
"We are ready to mobilise from community to community and from ward to ward. The women of Ebonyi are prepared to play their part because we believe in the leadership and development agenda of the APC.
"We are confident of victory on August 22, and we are equally confident that the APC will remain the party to beat in Ebonyi State and beyond as the nation moves towards the 2027 general elections," she said.
