The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Uchenna Stephen Igwe, has been inducted into the prestigious Fellowship of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), in recognition of his professional competence and contributions to public service.
Igwe’s conferment as a Fellow of the Association followed the approval of his nomination by the Governing Council of ANAN.
The investiture was one of the highlights of the 31st Annual General Meeting of ANAN held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, from Tuesday, September 8 to Thursday, September 9, 2026.
In a citation presented at the ceremony, ANAN described Igwe as a “distinguished public servant, administrator, accountant and community leader” whose career has reflected sustained commitment to effective governance and community development.
The citation noted that Igwe obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, in 2007/2008, before building a career spanning professional practice, grassroots administration and public governance.
According to the association, Igwe had served as Coordinator of the Ebonyi Development Centre in Ebonyi Local Government Area, where he contributed to grassroots administration and community development.
He also served as a member of the Ebonyi State Judicial Service Commission, contributing to the administration and advancement of the state’s judicial system.
The citation further highlighted his current role as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, where he oversees local government administration, grassroots governance and matters relating to traditional institutions across the state.
ANAN said Igwe’s career demonstrated “a strong blend of professional competence, leadership and commitment to public service”, adding that his record reflected dedication to effective governance and the advancement of Ebonyi State.
The conferment has attracted commendations from friends, associates and well-wishers, who described the recognition as a testament to Igwe’s professional pedigree and years of service in both public administration and community development.
The fellowship also places Igwe among professionals recognised by ANAN for distinguished contributions to the accountancy profession and related fields of public administration.
The honour comes as the commissioner continues to play a key role in the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, particularly in strengthening grassroots governance and coordinating local government and chieftaincy affairs in Ebonyi State.
His induction as an ANAN Fellow adds a new professional distinction to his public-service profile and further underscores the relevance of accounting, financial management and administrative competence in contemporary public-sector governance.
