The Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon. Chidiebere Onyemaechi Alo, has charged councillors and ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Alo gave the charge on Monday during a meeting with councillors, APC ward chairmen and secretaries at the council headquarters in Nkaliki, urging them to work towards securing victory for the party across all elective positions.
The council chairman reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring a landslide victory for APC candidates, directing councillors and ward executives to collaborate with stakeholders in their respective wards to strengthen grassroots campaigns and mobilise support for the party.
He also directed ward chairmen and their executives to establish functional party offices, hoist the APC flag and hold regular meetings to promote the party's activities and strengthen its presence at the grassroots.
Alo warned party stakeholders and members against anti-party activities, insisting that anyone found engaging in such conduct would face disciplinary action.
“Abakaliki Local Government Area is for APC, and we are going to vote for the party's candidates from top to bottom. There is no room for voting for some APC candidates and supporting candidates of opposition parties. Our votes are going to APC 100 per cent,” he declared.
He further urged councillors to be proactive in discharging their responsibilities and ensure that their respective wards deliver victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.
In their remarks, the APC Chairman and Secretary in Abakaliki Local Government Area, Hon. Paulinus Attam and Hon. Ndubuisi Nwagbu, respectively, commended Alo for his support for the party, describing the meeting as timely.
They expressed concern over what they described as the lackadaisical attitude of some councillors and party executives, warning that those who failed to perform their responsibilities would face appropriate sanctions to serve as a deterrent to others.
The party leaders also announced plans to embark on a ward-to-ward tour to sensitise residents and mobilise support for APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the councillor representing Abakpa Ward 1, Hon. Ferdinand Oruta, and the APC Chairman of Amegu-Enyigba Ward 4, Jeremiah Igboke, among other stakeholders, pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work towards securing victory for the party in their respective wards.
