The newly-floated Salt City Football Club of Abakaliki has recorded two victories in three of its recent friendly matches in preparation for the 2022 national league season.
Felix Odionye, Team Manager of the club made the disclosure on Monday in an interview on the team's preparations for the 2022 national league season.
Odionye said that the friendly matches executed with players selected from its successful screening exercise, have enabled the team discover areas of strengths and weaknesses.
"We defeated Adoration Football Club 3-0, Golden Boot FC 3-2 and drew 1-1 with PMC as all these clubs are based in Abakaliki.
"The match against Golden Boot FC was particularly difficult and we discovered several areas to strengthen especially the defence.
He said that the team will play more friendly matches to prepare adequately for the 2022 national league season.
"We would also recruit experienced players from the various league cadres to fortify the team as we work towards selecting the 35 players to be registered for the league.
Obiesie Ogbonna, Chief Coach of the team expressed happiness with the progress recorded by the team, noting that the team would get stronger before the league commences.
"The players acquitted themselves creditably during the friendly matches and we hope that they would improve in subsequent matches.
"We need prayers from the people to achieve the ultimate goal of presenting a formidable team for the state.
Emeka Ikegwu, Head of the team's media team assured football lovers that adequate information about the team would be disseminated at all times.
