Comrade Ekene Nwokoro.
Group known as the Ekeson Youth Movement, EYM, has called on an Ebonyi State born philanthropist, Comrade Ekene Nwokoro, who is currently the Special Aide to the Nigeria's Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to contest elective position come 2023 in considering his impactful contributions for societal development.
The group made the call, Friday at Nwokoro's country home, Obegu-Onwenwiya in Ugbalukwu Community, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State while celebrating with the less privileged ones, friends and well-wishers.
Speaking during the occasion, the National President of Ekeson Youth Movement, Comrade Amaechi Okalibe expressed the readiness by the group to rally round for Nwokoro's victory in 2023, asking him to consider their call to go and represent them in the State House of Assembly or other exalted position following his track records in building human capitals.
Okalibe further said, "it is understood that the seat of Izzi Constituency is owned by Ndieze, Igbeagu and Ugbalukwu Communities, but if zoning system stands, it is the turn of Mgbalukwu to produce the candidate to represent us in 2023 since the two other communities have taken their rations."
"Again, we have been searching for such a competent hand with humane character who can occupy the seat of Izzi East in the State House of Assembly in 2023, and at last, the unction fell on Comrade Ekene Nwokoro, the man of the people.
"Considering how Ekene Nwokoro has touched many lives positively, he deserves more than this, because he can comfortably represent us in the National Assembly, House of Representatives to be precise.
"Just last week, the young man gave Federal jobs to over 25 people. In fact, in terms of securing jobs for people, he is the best in Ebonyi State. I must tell you that between 2019 till date, Ekene Nwokoro has secured over 1,000 Federal jobs for our people and beyond. He offsets hospital bills of many patients in different hospitals. He attracted many projects in our state. He is detribalised and God fearing youth, with amazing leadership qualities.
"We plead him to come home to contest any elective position, at least to occupy the seat of Izzi East State Constituency, because, we are very proud of him.
"Today, he celebrated with indigent women, less privileged ones, friends and well-wishers, shared cash gifts, many phathoms of wrapper, other items and this has been his life style - touching lives in mega style."
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the group at Mgbalukwu Ward, Amaechi Mbam, described Comrade Nwokoro as a young man whose passion for human development is equal to none in the area.
He said Nwokoro has been embarking on road network development, built different amenities in the community including Skill Acquisition Centre and also assisting people with funds, noting that "chateriable life is embedded in him right from childhood."
Other speakers including Clement Nwankwuda, Friday Nwifuru, Sunday Nwadugo, Felicia Agu, Obioma Okeye and numerous others commended Nwokoro's humanitarian services, urging him to consider their calling to contest the 2023 election, starting from the State House of Assembly.
Many members of the group in demonstration of their love for the Movement and its success, pledged to swing into action in carrying out sensitization on continuous voter registration in their various communities to ensure their preferable candidates are returned victoriously in 2023. Some of them carried flies bearing logo of All Progressives Congress, APC, with the picture of the Osinbajo's Aide and inscriptions such as "Ekeson Youth Movement 2023," "Nye Anyi Ekene 2023 (Give us Ekene in 2023)," which was powered by Ede Blessing Igboji.
Responding, Ekene Nwokoro appreciated his people for their calling and promised to do all within his reach to make them proud, if at the due time, God perfects their wish.
He said that his celebration with the less privileged ones, friends and well-wishers has become an annual event but was not usually on media space, and should not be seen as politically motivated.
"This is what I do every year, I do it annually, I do it routinely, in fact, at any point in time I deem fit, because I cherish being philanthropist. Extending philanthropic gesture is one of my watch words, it's not an induced philanthropic passion, but I do it out of my personal volition to help humanity," Comrade Nwokoro hinted.
He also promised to consolidate what he has been doing over the years and prayed that 2022 should be better than 2021, stressing that, "my people's call is an assignment to be accomplished by God's grace."
