The issue of zoning formular is still not cleared even as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention draw closer.
This is because the Caretaker /Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party has refuted releasing any zoning arrangement for the National Convention slated for February 26, 2022.
NATIONAL PANEL gathered learnt that the committee, after its 19th regular meeting, which lasted for two days, released the timetable and schedule of activities for the convention of the party.
But while briefing newsmen after the Wednesday’s meeting at the party’s National Secretariat, the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, said that at no time did the committee discuss the zoning arrangement for the National Convention.
“I am here to debunk the fake news going around on the social media that we have zoned offices. We are yet to meet on the issue of zoning.
“The news and rumour making round are fake news. We never discussed the issue during our deliberations. People should disregard the story because it is fake news. It is not true,” he said.
However, there is fear that the ruling party is uncertain about the forthcoming convention because of the pending court cases that may nullify convention.
The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress has shown no signs of abating even as the national reconciliation committee set up by the party to curb hostilities has failed to make headway three months after it was set up according to reports.
NATIONAL PANEL gathered that with the plethora of cases in court, the APC feared that its national convention could be declared illegal if court cases instituted in several states were not withdrawn or concluded.
