Having identified youths restiveness as one of the major causes of insecurity in Nigeria, some of the highly placed politicians from Ebonyi State have stressed the need to join hands together in fighting the menace by embracing God and by declaration of state of emergency on unemployment.
This noble call was made in the spirit of new year and in view of the ongoing arrangements and preparations for transition of political powers in the country.
In their new year messages, the former Senator representing Ebonyi North Zone, Senator Anthony Agbo and the former Honourable Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Ogeali, noted that unemployment and idleness are the root causes of youths restiveness in Nigeria.
Senator Anthony Agbo who organized a very powerful seminar for the youths at the eve of the new year, noted that the world is becoming more and more difficult for the people to live in, and advised people to see it as their individual responsibilities to reach out to the needy and the less privileged in the society even as he charged all and sundry never to lose hope in God no matter any circumstance.
In his part, Hon. Peter Ogeali appealed to both the present and the incoming government to create enabling environment where the youths can be gainfully engaged in meaningful activities that can help them become self dependent other than been used as vital violent arsenals.
Similarly, another stakeholder, Mr. Ben Omogo while emphasizing on the need to shun violence among the youths, advised people to learn how to adjust their wants and life expectancies to suit with their capabilities especially in this period of global economic crisis.
Earlier, the Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Obinna Ogba, who had initially declared his interest in contesting for the number one seat in the state political domain, also used the opportunity to declare his support for electronic voting system which allows for instant transmission of votes right from the voting points.
