The Wife of Ebonyi State Governor Mrs Rachel Umahi has called on Ebonyi Women to be vanguard of peace and a change agents for the overall interest and development of the State.
Umahi made the call during the official opening of her ultra modern office built by the State Governor at Ochuudo, Centenary City and one day prayer meeting in Abakaliki.
Mrs Umahi who lauded the State Governor Engr. David Umahi for inclusiveness of Women in his adminstration said her would not relent in overseeing the welfare of the Women in the State.
She encouraged them to always seek the face of God despite all odds to overcome challenges and persistently make peace in their families as well as shun any act capable of truncating peace while admonishing them to endeavor to guide their children in the right parts
Mrs Umahi directed the State Commissioner for Women affairs and social development Princess Deborah Chinwe Okah to liaise with ALGON chairman among others to initiate programmes that would be be carried out in the office to further improve the conditions of the Women in the State.
However, Mrs Umahi appreciated the Women for massively supporting her adminstration and pledged her assistance in the time of their needy, added that the adminstration of her husband had in last seven years implementing programmes and policies aimed at alleviating Women and children out from poverty and challenges.
The South East chairman of Christian association of Nigeria CAN Reverend Father Abraham Nwali in his words of exaltation, charged the Country to take further steps towards mainstreaming Women in political governance to move the Country forward.
The chairman association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in the State Princess Nkechinyere Iyioku explained that Ebonyi Government has surpass the threshold in the Country's affirmative actions by given Women in the State Forty percent.
The Commissioner for Women affairs and social development Princess Deborah Chinwe Okah urged Women in the State to see the new ultra modern office complex as a rally point, noting that it was the reflection of the developmental stride of Engr. David Umahi in all sectors of the State economy.
The chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga applauded the State Governor for building such edifice to her Excellency and prayed God to bless him in his political endeavours.
She also thanked Wife of the Governor for giving succor to Ebonyi Women and assured their total support to her office at all times.
Meanwhile, the event attracted female executive council members, female council chairmen, Rachel Umahi Women, Nigeria union of Women Journalists among other Women group.
