The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Development, Barr Onyekachi Nwebonyi has received his namesake Little Master Chrisantus Nwankata Onyekachi Nwebonyi from the family of Hon and Mrs John Nwankata.
Speaking during the naming ceremony on Sunday in Abakaliki, Barr Nwebonyi defined a namesake in an African setting as a special gift and recognition ordained by God Almighty.
He added that 'a child' remains an outstanding blessing from God, urging all humans not to underplay such a gift.
He appreciated the father of his namesake, who is currently the Zonal Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi North Zone, Hon John Nwankata, his wife and the well-wishers for the special recognition.
According to Nwebonyi, “naming a child after someone, is a show of unconditional love.
"It is one of the highest ways you can express your unreserved love to someone you sincerely love.
"The family of John Nwankata has shown unconditional love to me and my family, and I am so happy about it."
The Commissioner at the event also donated three (3) motorcycles to three persons including Joseph Ozibo, Friday Nwiyi and Williams Nwangborie.
NATIONAL PANEL gathered that the donation of the motorcycles has been the usual life of the Commissioner, as he had distributed many vehicles to his aides, and supporters; built houses for the widows, and offered an avalanche of scholarship awards to brilliant students, especially those from under-graded families.
Barr Nwebonyi equally opened Fixed Bank Account for his namesake with the sum of two hundred thousand Naira (N200,000) for his prospective scholarship purposes, after ushering God's blessings and good wishes upon him.
Recall that the Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state, Barr Clement Omenkannaya Odah was the Chairman of the occasion.
Barr Odah also observed that giving a namesake to someone is a cultural habit of spraying affection on a person very dear to one's heart.
In addition, the Executive Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area of the State, Chief Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga expressed joy and described the child as a special gift from God for the family of Hon. John Nwankata.
Mrs Nwogbaga congratulated Barr Nwebonyi for his promising services to humanity which earned him special recognition, urging him not to be relented in doing good works.
The member representing Ebonyi North East State Constituency House of Assembly, Chief Benjamin Ezeoma thanked God for the gift of a child in the family.
The State Legal Adviser of All Progressive Congress APC, Barrister Ikaa Ukeni Ikaa, noted that every child is a heritage from God.
Barr Ikaa joined numerous friends and well-wishers of Nwankata's family members to celebrate with them.
The APC Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, Mr Orogbo Patric, and different guests who interacted with our newsmen urged other politicians to copy the good gestures of Commissioner Nwebonyi while wishing the family more blessings of God.
Meanwhile, the Chief Host, Hon John Nwankata appreciated Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi, describing him as his 'Boss' whose contributions in his life have continued to gain weight in giving him a lifting standard in society for the service to humanity.
Nwankata thanked all his guests, friends and well-wishers for having come and celebrated with his family members, wishing them God's continuous blessings and protection.
