The Governorship aspirant under the platform of People's Democratic Party PDP, Engr Fidelis Nwankwo has Condemned in its entirety the act of some traditional rulers Izhi clan who purportedly endorsed the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Francis Nwifuru as their sole gubernatorial candidate come 2023 general election.
Engr Nwankwo made the condemnation during an interaction with Journalists in Abakaliki the State Capital.
The guber aspirant said: "Traditional rulers are the custodians of traditional institutions instead of being partisan politicians who are endorsing a candidate from a particular political party for the election.
"Also traditional rulers suppose to be faithful fathers all, irrespective of your political affiliation.
"Eze Nwonumara of Amaegu Autonomous community, Eze Akamu Alo of Nkaliki Community and Eze Ogbonnaya Ukwa of Igbegu Community should know that they have taken a bad step of endorsing a candidate from one political party instead of blessings all their children who are contesting which is part of their primary responsibilities," he added.
Also, another gubernatorial aspirant from PDP, Mr Sylvester Ogbaga representing Izzi/Abakaliki Federal Constituency said traditional rulers are not the ones to endorse candidates for everything that lies in the hand of delegates who will vote during the primary elections.
On his part, the Chairman of Izzi Traditional Rulers, Eze Sunday Oketa said the rereasonor the endorsement is to forestall any crisis that mymayrise in the process of selecting who will emerge as the candidate from Izzi.
"We the traditional ruler's dodo not want a situation where the internal politics among Izzi Son who we contesting would ruin the chance of Izzi Man becoming the Governor". OkOkitadded.
