A few days after receiving a 48-hour ultimatum from Ebonyi Renaissance Movement, ERM another Organisation, the Association of Ebonyi Traders and Artisans, AETA, Thursday in Abakaliki has also vowed to purchase nomination forms for the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Environment, Grants and Donor Agencies, Dr Richard Nnabu.
Speaking to journalists after a high profile meeting, the group observed the need for injection of fresh blood into the governance of Ebonyi state as against recycling those tainted with one vice or the other.
Chairman of the group, Elder Samson Onwe urged the people of the Old Afikpo bloc, Unwu-Ekumenyi bloc and the urban community to consider Dr Nnabu as a consensus candidate if truly they want consolidation of good governance in the state.
“Our organisation is interested in the Ebonyi Project. Only Dr Nnabu can consolidate what Governor David Umahi Nweze has done for the Ebonyi people.
“We are non-partisan and we maintain political neutrality at all times. But this time around, we are interested in who superintends over the affairs of our state.
“We just finished our meeting now and we will go and see Dr Nnabu possibly within the week on why we want him.
“If he accepts to run for the governorship of Ebonyi State, we will buy nomination form for him”, Elder Onwe vowed.
Acting National Secretary, Comrade Marvelous Ogah reechoed the chairman’s position, insisting Nnabu must be the most sought after candidate for the 2023 governorship position.
“Nabu must be supported by all lovers of good governance in Ebonyi state.
“From what Governor Umahi has done, Dr Nnabu is the only loyal servant we believe will continue the good works of the good road network, prompt payment of salaries, putting a permanent end to medical tourism and industrialisation of the state.
“This is exactly what we want”, she said.
