The Chairman of All Progressives Congress APC in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha has trashed down in strongest terms the frivolous allegation and unguarded utterances sponsored by one of the governor's aspirants in the state.
In a telephone conversation, the State party Chairman, Chief Emegha, queried why an elder statesman should engage in such petty and dirty claims that armed thugs had been ‘imported’ to cause mayhem during the forthcoming governorship and house of representatives APC primaries just less than twenty-four hours to the exercise.
He further, described the claim as unfounded and bogus for a man who was supposed to be exemplary to the younger generation and advised him to desist from casting aspersion on himself in a bid to curry cheap favour from the delegates and the general public.
The Chairman who also alleged that Elias Mbam, the immediate past Chairman of Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, was plotting to set the state on fire, assured the general public of the state government's preparedness to protect the lives and property of the citizenry even beyond the elections.
Chief Emegha said: "How can the Ebonyi State government import thugs? How can the chief security of the state destroy its achievements in the past seven years? Elias Mbam's claims are very watery and should be dismissed with a wave of the hand'.
"I remember him in my prayer because he is a member of the APC and we can't afford to lose somebody like him, but at the same time, we won't allow him to destroy our party. It's impossible".
"How can we bring thugs from outside the state, a seating government? What is it that we don't have? One good assurance I want to give to Elias Mbam is that those thugs he brought into the state will not go unpunished.
"So, by tomorrow, we shall know the people that brought thugs."
