The Ebonyi State Governor's Special Assistant on Lands and Survey, Chief Emmanuel Igwe announced this on Wednesday.
He said, "Ebonyi State Government will from the second day of August 2022 commence the arrest and prosecution of offenders irrespective of status in society."
He noted that the state government's action would not spare those who encroached on the state government lands located at the former proposed Ebonyi State Government shopping mall, unity layout, public primary school lands located at unity layout, and new mile 50 layouts in Abakaliki.
Also, those who encroached on Mgbabor Achara layout, Ebonyi state Nomadic School, Ugwuachara, Ebonyi State Housing Corporation land Enugu Abakaliki expressway, Ebonyi State Trade and Investment land along Enugu Abakaliki road and EBSU Pocket Layout, Ishieke, would not go scot-free.
He added that those who overstepped on Ebonyi State Stadium land along Alo Street Abakaliki, open spaces located within unity layout, New Mile 50 layout and other state government lands stolen by unscrupulous elements to vacate from those state government lands would equally face the punishment.
He said that the state government has offered a grace period for the alleged criminal elements that specialize in stealing government lands to regularize and obtain title documents that have elapsed.
