Ebonyi APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
Egede Lawrence writes on media promotion of peace in Ebonyi state politics, with the flag bearers of parties.
What I am going to say here is the truth about what I stand for, as it is important to express it.
I think that at this point, everyone who is sincere about the issues of politics should be able to talk openly, share views and contribute one's ideas.
I am from the founding father family circles in Ebonyi State, and interested in what is going on wherever I found myself in the State. I am also an elder.
We witnessed the struggle for the creation of Ebonyi State, with some other patriotic great men from different parts of the postwar province. I was as well officially involved but on duty.
Some are still alive but some are already dead, including my own elder brother who is Late now. He was a philanthropist.
He is Chief Benson Egede of Amike Community, Ezzangbo in Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State.
He was an active financier and a staunch member of the last struggle for the creation of the State. He was a businessman.
He was close to Francis Akanu Ibiam who contributed a lot to the struggle for the creation of Ebonyi State. They were Pals.
DR.Akanu Ibiam pioneered the plan, the journey, the action and the final effort to create Ebonyi State. He died before 1996 the time the State was created.
The reason I am supplying the above information is to brief the reading audience directly from the lone horse's mouth of history. I am still a living Soul.
Today, we can boast of many qualified men and women who have got the official capacity to become leaders in the State.
One of them is the talk of the town now, as the official APC Guber Candidate in Ebonyi State. He is said to be a cool-headed man.
Everybody in Ebonyi State and beyond who knows him cannot say that this man isn't popular.
The right Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru is twice in his tenure, the Speaker of the popular Ebonyi State House of Assembly. So, he is popular.
He is also the Guber flag bearer of the APC in Ebonyi State, and he is from the Izzi Clan which has three LGAs in the Ebonyi North Zone. This is where the Equity flag is flying with many hands trying to contest it for a laurel.
I have had the time once and perhaps twice, to meet the Hon. Speaker personally and had a chit-chat with him at his official residence. It was always brief.
He is a very quiet young man, whose loyalty and humility have endeared him to the height he finds himself in Ebonyi State.
The last day I met him there was nothing daisy or bad about him, on account of his behaviour that can lead me to flatter or flaw him. I saw him as a very calm man.
But even if I detected anything wrong about him, it isn't going to be for public consumption.
There is one thing I would like to tell people, about those that God has placed in positions for a purpose in any mortal society.
God is wonderful to the point we can't describe him totally if for any reason it comes to people's leadership in a broad system of administration. Let's talk sense.
The one thing is that once God allows a certain person to get a position, no matter the amount of opposition there is nothing anyone can do to frustrate him or her. So, care must be taken.
The only thing that such a fellow allowed by God to cover a space should do is to be of good behaviour, give respect to others, not underrating anyone but be friendly to everybody.
There's nothing bad in mixing up very well in public places, on political, social and economic grounds where good rapport is required. That's the pass mark.
Let there be no pretence even in politics, to get the favour of God continually without any form of hindrance on the way.
It is not easy to conquer human opposition, where competition is going on for golden laurels.
It is very simple to get God's approval, for people to applaud a person in any position at all times in promotional matters.
The greatest error is to be a proud and arrogant person if God approves a position to be occupied by someone who is definitely going to be assessed by the Angels of God and also by human beings as witnesses.
The greatest error anybody can commit is to abuse and curse a chosen vessel of honour who is anointed by God, in the name of opposition. It isn't acceptable in a civilized society of decorum.
More so, if he or she is also on the approval list by people, no matter the kind of person he or she is in the eyes of individuals.
The best everybody can do to sustain God's approval of such an anointed fellow is to agree with God. There are blessings inside it. Politics can't see it that way.
Now, in Ebonyi State, everyone who has passed through the corridors of power assumes he or she is qualified to become a leading politician or something else. But God is not saying so.
Let me tell us that no matter what you think about yourself, the decision of God is final.
Those campaigning and also contesting for one position or the other, should count on who is likely to be influenced by God not just what anybody can do.
I am beginning to believe that in APC, as far as God is the arbiter Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru will be far from losing if he remains loyal, humble, honest and quiet to the core while campaigning.
There's no need for the media boasting and raw propaganda, which God abhors in any form.
All other political parties in the State should watch what they are doing at times, by smearing the authority and looking down on others, thinking it is the way to victory but it is wrong.
I humbly wish to advise those political parties in the Ebonyi North Zone, to bow out of the Guber contest and join hands with their brother in APC now.
This is to sustain the Charter of Equity that favours the zone this time, to facilitate getting what they are all struggling for in unity, love and togetherness.
Other Zones seem to be waiting for them as a team, especially those in the APC State camps and the localities, no matter the political party of belonging.
To God is the glory forever.
