A Captain of Industry and the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) Arc Dr Edward Nkwegu has assured of a dramatic transformation in the Agricultural sector if emerged as governor of his state in 2023.
Arc Nkwegu pledged Agricultural mechanisation on Friday after his endorsement alongside the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi and other candidates of the party by the members of the Civil Society Action Group in Nigeria at Abakaliki, the state capital.
He said his plan to introduce mechanised Agriculture is to encourage youths and women to be active players in Agricultural practices to ensure a robust economy and food security.
"I will look into agricultural modernization, to be able to involve the youths in Agriculture, because what we use now is outdated, the hoe and cutlass can no longer feed the population that we have now in the state, we need to improve on agriculture by the introduction of modern techniques," he pledged.
The 2023 Labour Party governorship hopeful vowed to create 13,000 micro small and medium enterprises to address the issue of unemployment as well as end poverty in Ebonyi State if elected governor in 2023 while declaring his four-point agenda
The world emerging Industrialist explained that the 13,000 micro and small medium enterprises would create job opportunities for about 250,000 people, noting it would go a long way to curb several crises in the state which primarily emanate as results of unemployment.
"I’m going to create 13,000 micro and small medium enterprise in two years, that will employ about 250,000 persons within 2years," he hinted.
He maintained that his four-point agenda would focus on the economic transformation of the State, agricultural modernization, and infrastructural enhancement through the provision of basic amenities such as pipe bone water.
He assured of embarking on mineral exploration as well as the development of the mineral deposits in the state to be in proper usage and, have positive impacts on the livelihood of the citizens.
“Infrastructural enhancement, through the provision of basic amenities like pipe bone water in the State, right now we don’t have pipe bone water.
“Mineral exploration, development of our mineral deposits in such a way that it would bring positive effects to the economy," he said.
He upheld that he would initiate civil programs to look into education and ensure access to infrastructures, and curricular reformation that would be relevant and in reflection to contemporary society.
He, therefore, assured of working hard to improve health care delivery, and the empowerment of youths, women and vulnerable people in the state if emerged as governor in 2023.
