The Nigeria Film and Video Censor Board, NFVCB Ebonyi Censorship Centre, Abakaliki has begun to carry out its advocacy and sensitization visits to the schools in the state.
The Head of Administration, Censorship/ Field Officer Ebonyi Censorship Center, Abakaliki, Stone Anyim made this known in a statement.
According to him, the NFVCB Ebonyi Censorship Centre, Abakaliki Media Literacy team led by the Head of the Centre, Mr Ejike Nwodo visited Godis International Secondary school Abakaliki.
Recall that the NFVCB focuses on licencing a person to exhibit films and video works. It also licenses premises for exhibiting film and video works. It censors and classifies film and video works. The board regulates and prescribes safety precautions to be observed in the licensing premises.
Anyim in the statement noted that the advocacy visit embarked on by the media literacy team to some schools in Ebonyi was used to nurture the students on the functions always played by the board.
The students were urged by the board to avoid meddling in the rules and regulations governing film and video production, especially by involving themselves in performing or watching pornography, violently related movies and their fancies.
"It was a robust interaction as both students, staff and management staff of the school were impressed with the activities of the program.
"The principal of the school thanked the Board for the wonderful packaged Programme presented to the school. Asked God to bless the Board, staff, management and Executive Director.
"Questions were asked by the audience and answers were also provided," the statement read in parts.
