From Victor Nwegede, Abakaliki
Governor David Umahi has read the riot acts to criminals in Ebonyi, asking them to pack out from the state.
The Governor through his Special Assistant on Media and Strategy stated this Sunday during a thanksgiving service at the new Government House Chapel, Centenary City, Abakaliki following his victory at the appellate court.
Governor Umahi who is also the South East Governors Forum Chairman used the opportunity of the church service to read a "riot act" to all criminals in the zone.
He advised all miscreants and criminal elements to immediately leave saying that the zone would soon become uninhabitable for them. "Enough is enough", Umahi declared.
The Ebonyi State governor had earlier described his recent appeal Court victory as answered prayers from God's altar.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja had a few days ago reversed the judgement of Justice Inyang Ekwo of the lower court which purportedly sacked the Governor and his deputy for defecting to the APC.
The Governor at the Church service harped on the need to be thankful to God.
He explained that he ran to the altar in prayers after the first judgement, and God answered his petition with a counter judgement which gave him victory.
Umahi said: "When the lower court asked us to leave, we came here and prayed to God but now that the higher court has ruled that we should stay, are we not supposed to come and thank Him?"
Governor Umahi was visibly excited in the spirit of the thanksgiving and announced his administration's concluded plans to boost the number of Liaison Officers to be appointed across the State to Two hundred Thousand. This he noted was in line with his resolve to further expand government impact in all nooks and crannies of the State.
He further announced that the State government, under its commitment to transparency and inclusiveness would on Monday, 31st of October, convoke a Citizens' consultative/input meeting on the 2023 Budget Estimate. He added that the meeting would also incorporate the Stakeholders' Summit on the 2023 Population and Housing Census, and called on Ebonyians to partake and make their inputs without fear.
