Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State.
He described the character of contentment as a panacea to rising vices in the country.
Recall that the wedding was between Paul Ikpor, son of the State Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board and former Miss Sarah Kalu.
While advising the couple, Governor Umahi charged them to avoid as much as possible, third-party interference in their marriage.
Governor Umahi, represented at the event by the Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Kingsley Ikoro, further charged the newly married couple to develop the spirit of love, mutual respect and understanding.
He lamented the rising rate of social vices in the country which he blamed on a decline in family values and bonding and, however, charged Nigerian families to wake up to their responsibility of character moulding for their children.
"My message to families and the newly wedded couple today is to leave off evil to make your homework.
"We are living in dangerous moments, and what will save every family today is contentment.
"Please, the newly Weds, do not put your husbands under pressure.
"What you owe your man is respect and your man will in turn take care of you.
"The most important virtue is understanding, and most importantly, do not discuss your issues outside; keep issues to yourself," Umahi said.
