2022 INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY MESSAGE TO EBONYI NORTH WEST PEOPLE, EBONYIANS AND ALL NIGERIANS BY HONOURABLE IKENNA NWELE.
As Nigeria and Ebonyi State commemorate the 62nd and 26th Independence Day Anniversary, I, Honourable Ikenna Nwele, on behalf of my family congratulate Ebonyi North West citizens, Ebonyians and entire Nigerians on this memorable occasion.
Every 1st October remains a very remarkable date, as Nigeria and Ebonyi State were created on this day in 1960 and 1996 respectively.
This significant day should provoke our psyches as Nigerians to reflect on the struggles for our independence, to salute the courage, patriotism and vision of our heroes who defied colonial coercion to midwife a free nation for us.
Our heroes' consciousness for our political sovereignty as a nation, was herded by the prospect that freedom would eventually decipher into a better life for all Nigerian citizens, from up to down, and vice versa.
However, it is regrettable that the treaties held by our heroes past, in their pursuit of our independence have become an illusion.
It is deeply disturbing that our dear nation today occupies the top positions in all the indices of socio-political and economic discomforts and these tragic ailments have shrouded our dear state and constituency as well.
Driving homes of the Ebonyi North West State Constituents, we will easily realise that our health prospects are receiving the poorest attention.
Our road network today is nothing to write home about as all the routes to Ndiegu, Onuenyim, Ishieke, Agalegu, Mbeke and some parts of Ndiebor Ishieke communities, the full fabrics of Ebonyi North West State Constituency are now in deplorable condition.
We have no single industry, and our real incomes are plummeting. Killings and insecurity have become alarming, with many of our brothers and sisters now in exile, just because of community conflicts and associated factors.
Even though, our brothers and sisters pass through hell to graduate from tertiary institutions, unemployment has become endemic nowadays.
Our social institutions especially the primary and secondary schools have become moribund and there is a sapping of confidence among the citizens, a severe fear that our country, state and constituency, in particular, are fated to doom if we fail to elect a definitive, competent and God-fearing leaders into elective office in 2023.
It is a high time we should rise to our feet to right the wrong. The time is now, Nigerians are embarking on OBIDIENT MASSIVE MOVEMENT, to bring a total transformation in the country. We must rise to end the abnormalities keeping the country and her citizens stagnant, by securing our Permanent Voter Cards, and PVCs to vote for credible candidates who have the interest of the populace at heart.
We must get prepared to make this revolutionary movement a reality come the 2023 general elections, by resisting any attempt to impose anti-democratic leadership on the citizens, and voting for reliable, humanitarian and above all, economic-spirited candidates at the polls.
I am confident that, with your continuous prayers and support for the Obi-Datti mass rally in our constituency, and full backing for the victory of the Labour Party candidates including my humble self, in 2023, we shall smile again.
