The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi Governor on Inter-Party and Labour Matters, Comrade Mrs Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor on Wednesday congratulated the teachers in the state as they joined their colleagues across the globe to mark the 2022 world teachers Day (WTD).
Mrs Adibe-Nwafor stated this in her goodwill message to the Ebonyi State teachers which she made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
In the congratulatory message on the World Teachers Day celebration, she said: "It is with joy in my heart that I on behalf of my office, warmly congratulate all Ebonyi teachers as they join their colleagues across the globe to mark the 2022 International Teachers Day today being 5th October 2022.
"Indeed, if there is a group of professionals that deserve to be celebrated above others, it is the teachers, given the exceptional role, teachers play in human capacity building and national development.
"In truth, no society develops without a teacher; no leader grows to lead well without passing through a teacher. Everyone in every sphere of human endeavours one way or the other passes through the grooming of a teacher at one time or the other.
"As we mark this auspicious day, I heartily rejoice with all our teachers in Ebonyi state.
"As I congratulate our teachers, I also congratulate our dear Governor, Engr. Dr David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE, whose commitment to the education sector in the state has elevated Ebonyi to be among the best performing states in the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
"His prompt payment of teachers and other workers' salaries is also worthy of mention.
"These and many other giant strides of His Excellency endeared him to the worker's award as the most workers-friendly Governor.
"The sound education system we have today in Ebonyi state could not have been without you. You have truly made Ebonyi state Government under an Education friendly Governor, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi is proud of your dedication to your callings.
"I, therefore, enjoin our teachers to take advantage of these privileges as well as the various empowerment opportunities of this administration to better their lots.
"In the same vein, I urge Ebonyi teachers to see this time as a moment of reflection and reawakening. Our teachers must use this period to say NO to all the negative tales and tendencies that had conspicuously bedevilled the noble teaching profession. Our students must begin to get the best quality of teaching.
"Our school curriculum and lesson notes must be constantly reviewed and updated to meet international global best practices.
"Once more, I congratulate all Ebonyi teachers and wish them a happy celebration.'
