Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State has been nominated for the conferment of the State Honour as the Grand Service Star of Rivers State, GSSRS.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr Uchenna Orji made this known in a statement on Friday.
Orji explained that the letter of the nomination conveyed to Governor Umahi with the seals of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wilke was dated 24th October 2022.
He said Governor Umahi's 'Distinguished Award from the Rivers State government is in recognition of his exemplary life achievements, outstanding contributions to the advancement of national cohesion, equity and justice and his invaluable leadership dispositions to the government and people of Rivers State.'
He noted that Governor Wike of Rivers State who acted under his powers under the Rivers State Honours Law, 2017 approved the conferment of the Star Honours to be accordingly conferred to the people's Governor (David Umahi) on a date to be communicated in due course.
The Commissioner expressed joy over his principal's excellent award while thanking 'God for announcing the virtues of His servant (Umahi) to the world.'
