The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has declared that the conviction of Doyin Okupe cannot demoralize him as he seeks to be Nigeria's President come 2023.
Doyin Okupe, the Campaign Director-General of Peter Obi was sentenced to two years imprisonment for breaching the Money Laundering Act, with an option of fine which amounted to 13 million.
Responding to the new development, Obi said he is still studying "what is coming out of the court", adding that he believes in the rule of law.
The Labour Party presidential candidate made this statement during his interaction with journalists in Uyo at the Akwa Ibom State Council Secretariat on Monday 19th December 2022.
He maintained that the conviction of his campaign council’s Director-General, Doyin Okupe, over alleged money laundering would not demoralize him as he seeks to become Nigeria’s president in 2023.
