Hon Stephen Ebere Nwogba.As the 2023 general elections draw nearer, the Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Council Hon. Ebere Stephen Nwogba has warned youths to shun indulging in any act culpable of degenerating violence before, during and after the general elections but rather be ambassadors of peace in their interest and the overall development of the Council.
The Council boss gave the warning at the LGA Headquarters, Nkaliki
The Council chairman who reaffirmed his position in ensuring peaceful conduct of the elections in the area, charged all and sundry to ensure peace reigns in all the nooks and crannies of the Council, saying that the LGA is known for peaceful conduct in all their affairs in the State.
However, the chairman cautioned youths against the destruction of posters, and billboards while enjoining them to shun such dastardly acts as anyone caught would be made to face the full weight of the law.
According to him" We must strive to ensure that there is no form of violence in the forthcoming elections in this Council or engaged in the destruction of posters and billboards as anybody caught will be decisively dealt with"
"Destruction of posters and billboards cannot guarantee victory for any Candidate or make one lose the election"
"Ebonyi is a peace-loving State courtesy of His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi Fuse Fnate CON and we must not sabotage his effort in ensuring peaceful coexistence in the State".
He further advised youths in the Council not to allow themselves to be used as thugs but engaged in a meaningful venture in their interest and urged people of the Local Government Area to go to their various ward collection centres and collect their permanent voter's card (PVC's) and vote massively to all the APC candidates from top to bottom to enable them to record overwhelming victory at the poll.
"I wish to also advise our people to get their PVCs which are being distributed currently in the respective wards and polling units and secure them to vote for the candidates of APC from top to bottom in f forthcoming general elections.
