The leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance has mourned the death of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Abia State, Prof. Eleazar Ikonne.
This was as the party condoled with the Ikonne's family, saying his death was not only a huge loss to Abia State, but to the entire nation.
The National Chairman of APGA, Dr Victor Oye, stated this in a statement he signed and made available to journalists, on Wednesday.
Recall that earlier on Wednesday, Ikonne's death was announced in a statement by his son, Dr Chikezie Uche-Ikonne.
But mourning his death, on Wednesday, the APGA boss, said, "The All Progressives Grand Alliance has expressed shock at the news of the death of Prof. Eleazar Ikonne, the PDP governorship candidate, in Abia State.
"The death of the erudite professor is not only a loss to Abia State, but to the entire country has contributed immeasurably to the training of many professionals as vice chancellor.
"APGA advises other political parties not to politicise the death, but to view it with sympathy and love.
"I pray God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal happiness in heaven and the Ikonne family the fortitude to bear the grievous loss."
