From Victor Nwegede, Abakaliki
The Labour Party (LP) Governorship Candidate in Ebonyi, Architect Edward Nkwegu said his emergence in the 2023 general election would end every threat to the security of lives and property of the citizens in the state.
Architect Nkwegu said his administration would encourage youth productive enterprises to tackle the insecurity challenges of the state if emerged victorious in the forthcoming governorship election.
The LP gubernatorial candidate who made this promise on Wednesday at Bishop McGettrick's Pastoral Centre, Abakaliki, during an interactive session with the governorship candidates of various political parties in Ebonyi State, urged the electorate to consider contestants of estimable character at the polls.
"That's why we say go and verify in Labour Party, our Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi tells us to verify, the character of the candidate, we want to support. I have received United States Award as a Peace Ambassador.
"So, when I'm on board, the people will know that a peaceful man is on board, and everybody will fall in line because you can't solve a problem by creating more problems.
"First of all, as I said, when you create jobs, empower the youths, introduce modernized agriculture, and other inventions that will encourage people to make a better livelihood, diverting the youth from this wotowoto (destructive) crusade to a productive enterprise, let them be busy because an idle man is a devil's workshop," Nkwegu said.
He maintained that his administration would bring a robust economic transformation to Ebonyi State through industrialisation, wealth creation and massive employment with much emphasis on agricultural modernization, quality education and a standard health delivery system.
The LP governorship standard bearer further emphasized his plan to create wealth through Micro Small and Medium Enterprises.
“I will make our economy viable, our education will be in the highest ranking for good performance, and there will be general good health delivery for all. There will be adequate security to enable investors to come in and develop the State in partnership. Food security will be assured,” Nkwegu said.
Also, the Gubernatorial Candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC in Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru delivered his manifesto as he emphasised that all the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions will be revamped in the State to the level that public education institutions will no longer be seen as the place for the poor ones.
The Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Dr Sunday Opoke said his administration if elected is going to be based on wealth creation.
“One of my agenda is Human capital development, God created it in a way that poverty is a choice. I will develop people above the poverty level. If any part of your body is developed, you will be automatically rich."
The Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Professor Bernard Odoh and his counterpart of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, during the event, promised to lift the State from the current status of the poorest state to a better stage, stressing the need for electing the most decent candidate into the apex seat of the state in 2023 polls.
Recall that the event was organised by Justice, Development, Peace and Caristas Initiative, Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki under the leadership of Bishop Peter Nworie Chukwu.
