The Member Representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah has sued for peace over the lingering land cases among the people of the Ebushike community of Ikwo Local Government Area.
A report from the elders of the town revealed that there has been a protracted land dispute in Ebushike community.
When the issue was briefed to the lawmaker, he swung into action by calling for a peace meeting with the elders and stakeholders from the affected community.
In his separate speeches, Hon. Ogah assured the community of his readiness to enthrone peace in all the nooks and crannies of his constituency.
"I want you to know that development does not strive in an atmosphere of rancour and violence, rather development dwells in a peaceful and united environment.
"As part of my contribution to ensure peaceful coexistence, I am giving the sum of two million Naira (2m), for the community to build their church and offering the sum of three million Naira (3mililion), for the community to start up its proposed nursery school in the community.
"We have resolved to give back the land bringing disunity to the main owners of the land for the interest of peaceful coexistence and unity of the people.
"Most importantly, the church and school have been resolved to be relocated to a different place which is the community collectively owned property," the lawmaker said.
He advised the community to see themselves as one people and appreciate God’s gift on their land, rather than allow a few people who don't want the peace of the community to keep instigating crises among them.
