Senate, on Thursday, passed a bill to provide the needed legislative framework for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Owutu Edda, in the Afikpo South Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
The passage of the bill was a sequel to a previous motion by Senator Micheal Nnachi, Peoples Democratic Party, (Ebonyi South), on the need to establish the facility, in the area.
The bill was read the third time and passed after consideration of the Health Committee’s report by the Committee of the Whole.
Part of the Senate's report, which was sighted at the New Media Unit, Office of the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, read, "The Senate in Committee of the Whole and Plenary considered Federal Medical Centre Owutu Edda (Establishment) Bill, 2023 and approved Clauses 1-2 as recommended, Short and Long Titles as recommended, Explanatory Memorandum as recommended.
"Federal Medical Centre Owutu-Edda (Establishment) Bill, 2023 was read the Third Time and PASSED!"
