The traditional ruler elect of the Ndiebor Ishieke community in Ebonyi LGA of Ebonyi State, Eze Patrick Aloh on Tuesday at his palace Idebia Ishieke offered his royal blessing to the state governorship standard bearer of the Labour Party, Dr Edward Nkwegu (Edon) to accomplish success in his 2023 bid come March 11 poll.
The 109 aged community leader commended Architect Nkwegu for seeking his blessing in his gubernatorial race, noting that since the present state Governor David Umahi had thrown his weight behind the practicable charter of equity, his victory would be a landslide on March 11 poll.
He regretted that after the emergence of an Izzi illustrious son, the late Chief Andrew Nwankwo in 1998 during the PDP governorship primary in the state, "an Ezza man who was the chairman of the party sold out his ticket to Dr Sam Egwu. Egwu later emerged as the first Executive Governor of Ebonyi State in 1999 and ruled till 2007 before handing over to Chief Martins Elechi from Ebonyi Central before Governor David Umahi from Ebonyi South who is on the seat today.
"We Izzi people were supposed to rule as governor first in Ebonyi State as the clan housing the capital city of our dear state, but the opportunity was denied to us, " he revealed this in his Izzi local dialect.
Offering his blessing to the Labour gubernatorial candidate, Eze Aloh noted that the 558 votes from his residence would belong to Nkwegu, Peter Obi and the Labour Party family in the forthcoming polls.
The monarch prayed to God to touch the hearts of all other voters across the state to vote for Architect Nkwegu as their governor come March 11 unconditionally to ensure his landslide victory because of his peaceful, honest, philanthropic, hardworking and creative life.
He proclaimed a triumphant outing and God's protection upon Nkwegu as he takes his campaign trains to every corner of the state, stressing that as a man of peace and helper of the downtrodden, he would see peace and favour of the Lord and man in his gubernatorial race this time.
He advised Nkwegu not to take people's welfare, especially the workers and less privileged ones for granted after his victory at the 2023 gubernatorial poll saying he should carry both the members of his party and other political groups along and assuring equitable distribution of the resources of the state without discrimination.
Appreciating the community leader, Architect Nkwegu, assured of keeping his advice, noting that his government would run open door policy and revere the traditional institutions in the state, if emerged as governor on March 11 poll while marshalling his other development agenda for the Ebonyi people.
